  • 1 qt. treats approximately 4,000 sq. ft.

Yard Guard vs. Lawn and Kennel Concentrate

Lawn and Kennel is a concentrate, which means you can choose the strength at which you apply it. Yard Guard is a ready-to-use, pre-diluted version of Lawn and Kennel. While the Yard Guard can be applied right out of the box, which is convenient and easy to use, Lawn and Kennel offers you more control over the strength of the spray you apply since you must pre-dilute yourself. You pick the dilution ratio. For Larger Yards, try Lawn and Kennel Concentrate. It's more economical in the long run.

Directions for Use - 32 oz. Yard Guard Insect Control Spray.
A Nature's Defender Cedar Oil Product.

How to Use Yard Guard:

Yard Guard focuses on reducing the number of non-beneficial insects in treated areas. Shake well before use. Attach to hose, turn valve to mix, and begin spraying. Apply to entire outdoor space evenly, including shrubbery and bases of trees. Re-application after heavy rain may be necessary. For best results, apply in the early morning or late evening. Apply monthly or as needed.

How to Apply When Rain is an Issue:

Applying before the rain:If the forecast is predicting heavy rainfall in the next 24-48 hours, it's best to wait to apply Yard Guard until after the rain has passed and the soil has adequately dried (moist soil is fine but soil saturated with water is too wet for application). Similarly, if heavy rain occurs less than 24-48 hours after you've treated your yard, we recommend an additional application. Note: light to medium rains do not necessitate additional applications.

Applying after the rain: If it has just rained, yet the soil is dry or slightly wet, you're fine to apply Yard Guard to your lawn. However, if the soil is muddy, saturated with water, or otherwise extremely wet, it's best to wait until the soil has had more time to dry.

Treatment Tips:

  • Ideal for use on patios, lawns, shrubberies, flower and vegetable gardens and trees.
  • Can be used as an animal or livestock friendly insect spray and in kennels, barns, stables, corals and other animal confinements.
  • Effectively reduces presence of grubs, fleas, ticks, army worms, mole crickets, mosquitoes and numerous other insects.
  • Apply during morning or evening hours to avoid possible phytotoxic burn to plant life. Best when applied during temperatures under 90 degrees F.
  • Apply periodically as needed for effective pest control throughout the seasons.

For Lawn and Yard Treatment:

For first time use, a healthy saturation to treatment areas will "jump start" a cedar oil pest control program. Spray all surfaces where you would like to keep bugs away. Can spray outer walls of home or other out buildings to deter pest from entering structures if desired. Apply to patios, outdoor furniture, lawn areas, bushes, trees and fences. To establish an insect protected zone around home or structures, apply spray while working your way in an outwardly expanding radius from buildings. Treatments done in this manner will push pests continuously away from buildings and establish an outdoor perimeter that is consistently pest resistant while reducing likelihood that pests will enter structures within the perimeter. Follow up treatments only require that you get the surfaces wet to rejuvenate and replenish previously treated areas and are recommended to be done periodically as needed. Doing so will rejuvenate and replenish the formula and help to maintain an insect free environment throughout the seasons.

For Kennels and other animal confinement areas:

For first time use, a healthy saturation to treatment areas will "jump start" a cedar oil pest control program. Spray down entire kennel area and let treated areas air dry. Do not rinse as the solution will continue to help even when dry. Repels non-essential insects. Follow up treatments only require that you get the surfaces wet to rejuvenate and replenish previously treated areas and are recommended to be done periodically as needed. Doing so will rejuvenate and replenish the formula and help to maintain an insect free environment throughout the seasons. Can also be used in litter boxes and applied around outdoor bedding areas and other areas where pets or livestock congregate.
